The Story Behind the Colors

Hi! I'm Jamie, the creator behind OB Tie Dye. Since making San Diego my home, I've fallen in love with the unique blend of laid-back beach culture and artistic energy that makes this city so special.

OB Tie Dye came to life right here in San Diego, fueled by a desire to create something fun and unique. Every piece is handcrafted with love using premium Dharma Trading Company dyes—so much so that I was honored to be featured as a Dharma Feature Artist. Inspired by the energy of this amazing city, each design is one-of-a-kind, just like the person wearing it.

Where Art Meets Your Everyday Style

My designs are inspired by the everyday beauty that surrounds us in San Diego – dawn patrol surf sessions with pastel skies, golden hour at Sunset Cliffs, the vibrant energy of Ocean Beach and the eclectic characters who make this corner of the world feel like nowhere else.

I believe clothing should be as unique as the person wearing it. That's why every single OB Tie Dye piece has its own personality and energy. No templates, no assembly lines – just intuitive color combinations flowing together in ways that can never be exactly duplicated.

Small Batch, Big Heart

Everything here is created in small batches. Many of my favorite creations are thrift flips - unique pieces I've rescued from local thrift stores and given new life through my tie-dye process. This approach not only creates truly one-of-a-kind items but also keeps perfectly good clothing out of landfills. The entire dyeing process happens right here in my San Diego home, with each piece getting individual attention and care.

OB Tie Dye isn't just about creating cool clothing – it's about celebrating individuality, supporting local creativity, and building community through self-expression. When you wear one of my pieces, you're carrying a little piece of San Diego's independent spirit with you.

Beyond the Dye

When I'm not elbow-deep in color, you might find me working at my day job as a media director, searching for the best tacos in town, propagating my ever-growing collection of succulents or catching live music at one of our incredible local venues.

I believe in supporting the people who make San Diego's creative scene thrive – the artists, musicians, small business owners, and free spirits who keep our culture authentic and vibrant.
